Hi! For anyone who is interested in media justice (in hopes that some people from Spokane might be able to make it to Seattle!), the Federal Communications Commission will be holding a media ownership hearing very soon. It will be the last of several public hearings regarding the relaxation of rules that currently prohibit a company from owning a newspaper and a television or radio station in the same city. An official date and location hasn't been announced, but the local grassroots media justice group Reclaim the Media reports that November 2 has been proposed by chairman Kevin Martin. At the hearing, anyone from the public can sign up to give a two minute testimony. More information can be found here.
There will be workshops in Seattle and Olympia over the next week facilitated with the help of folks from the Prometheus Radio Project and Reclaim the Media.
